How to Download and Use the CBS Sports App for Live Game Updates

I remember the first time I realized I needed the CBS Sports app—it was during last season's PBA finals when I was stuck in traffic while Tropang Giga was playing their crucial Game 6. My friend kept texting me updates about Castro's surprise visit to practice just days before the championship match, and I felt completely out of the loop. That's when I decided to download the CBS Sports app, and it completely transformed how I follow sports. Let me walk you through why this has become my go-to sports companion and how you can get the most out of it too.

Downloading the app is straightforward—just head to your device's app store. For iOS users, that's the Apple App Store, while Android users will find it on Google Play Store. The installation takes about 30-45 seconds on average Wi-Fi, and the app occupies roughly 89MB of space, which is quite reasonable considering the features it packs. What I particularly appreciate is that the basic version is free, though I eventually upgraded to the premium version for $4.99 monthly because it removes ads and provides deeper statistical analysis. The moment you open the app, you're greeted with a clean interface that prioritizes live games and breaking news—exactly what sports fans want front and center.

Setting up your favorite teams takes mere minutes but makes all the difference in personalizing your experience. I've selected about seven teams across different sports that I follow religiously, including basketball and football. The app then curates news specifically about these teams and sends push notifications for key moments. During last month's championship game, I received alerts about player injuries, lineup changes, and even that fascinating detail about Castro visiting practice despite his recent recovery—information that came through much faster than traditional sports websites. The live game tracker is where the app truly shines though; it provides real-time scores, possession statistics, and even player heat maps that update every 12-15 seconds.

What separates CBS Sports from other sports apps in my opinion is its balance between comprehensive data and user-friendly presentation. While some platforms overwhelm you with numbers, this one presents statistics in digestible visual formats. I frequently use the play-by-play feature during important matches—it gives me textual descriptions of each significant play almost simultaneously with the broadcast. During last week's football game, I noticed the app was actually 8-10 seconds ahead of my television broadcast, which meant I knew about goals before they happened on screen. This does create somewhat of a spoiler effect, but personally I prefer knowing immediately rather than waiting.

The notification system deserves special mention because it's both comprehensive and customizable. You can choose to receive alerts for everything from game start times to quarter endings, scoring plays, or only for final scores if you prefer to avoid interruptions. I've set mine to notify me about scoring plays and injury updates specifically, which means I get about 5-7 notifications during a typical basketball game—enough to stay informed without becoming annoying. The app also integrates with various fantasy sports platforms, though I primarily use it for following actual games rather than fantasy management.

Having used the CBS Sports app for over 18 months now, I can confidently say it's revolutionized how I engage with sports. Whether I'm stuck in meetings, traveling, or simply away from my television, I never miss important moments anymore. That story about Castro's determined practice visit despite his recent recovery? I read about it through the app's news section while waiting for coffee, fully updated before most of my friends who were relying on traditional sports media. The combination of real-time updates, personalized content, and clean design makes this an essential tool for any serious sports fan. Give it a try during the next big game—you might find yourself as reliant on it as I've become.

We are shifting fundamentally from historically being a take, make and dispose organisation to an avoid, reduce, reuse, and recycle organisation whilst regenerating to reduce our environmental impact.  We see significant potential in this space for our operations and for our industry, not only to reduce waste and improve resource use efficiency, but to transform our view of the finite resources in our care.

Looking to the Future

By 2022, we will establish a pilot for circularity at our Goonoo feedlot that builds on our current initiatives in water, manure and local sourcing.  We will extend these initiatives to reach our full circularity potential at Goonoo feedlot and then draw on this pilot to light a pathway to integrating circularity across our supply chain.

The quality of our product and ongoing health of our business is intrinsically linked to healthy and functioning ecosystems.  We recognise our potential to play our part in reversing the decline in biodiversity, building soil health and protecting key ecosystems in our care.  This theme extends on the core initiatives and practices already embedded in our business including our sustainable stocking strategy and our long-standing best practice Rangelands Management program, to a more a holistic approach to our landscape.

We are the custodians of a significant natural asset that extends across 6.4 million hectares in some of the most remote parts of Australia.  Building a strong foundation of condition assessment will be fundamental to mapping out a successful pathway to improving the health of the landscape and to drive growth in the value of our Natural Capital.

Our Commitment

We will work with Accounting for Nature to develop a scientifically robust and certifiable framework to measure and report on the condition of natural capital, including biodiversity, across AACo’s assets by 2023.  We will apply that framework to baseline priority assets by 2024.

Looking to the Future

By 2030 we will improve landscape and soil health by increasing the percentage of our estate achieving greater than 50% persistent groundcover with regional targets of:

– Savannah and Tropics – 90% of land achieving >50% cover

– Sub-tropics – 80% of land achieving >50% perennial cover

– Grasslands – 80% of land achieving >50% cover

– Desert country – 60% of land achieving >50% cover
